Who qualifies?
Michigan's Home Help Program has clear, simple criteria. Most families who ask actually qualify.
To receive care, your loved one must:
Be enrolled in Michigan Medicaid
Reside in Michigan
Need help with daily living activities
Have Medicare only (no Medicaid) — not eligible
To become a paid caregiver, you must:
Be 18 years or older
Have no abuse or healthcare fraud convictions
Be willing to follow program guidelines
Spouses & parents of minors — cannot be paid caregivers

How much will I get paid?
Pay rates are set by Michigan Medicaid and vary by the level of care your loved one needs. Most caregivers earn between $14–$22 per hour. Your specialist will give you an exact rate during the onboarding call.
Will this cost my family anything?
No. Michigan's Home Help Program is 100% funded by Medicaid. There are no out-of-pocket costs to either the caregiver or the person receiving care.
How long does the application take?

Can I be paid to care for my spouse or my child?
Unfortunately, no. Michigan's program excludes spouses and parents of minor children from being paid caregivers. However, adult children caring for parents, siblings, and other relatives are all eligible.
What if my loved one doesn't have Medicaid yet?
